Outreach Activities

LogoLittle Fishes is the name of the 'mothers and toddlers' group we organise. It is held in the Island Community Centre Hall on Thursdays, between 10:00am and 11:30am during term time. It is attended by around 40 mums, dads and toddlers, with some child minders bringing their children to join in. It is run by volunteers from the church. Other church volunteers provide refreshments. The meetings end with songs.  All those attending understand that the church provides this activity as a way of supporting our community and giving parents and their children weekly opportunities to meet each other in a safe, welcoming and activity based environment.

Ladies groupLadies' Evenings take place once a month in the school hall on Friday evenings. They provide a fun  opportunity for ladies to socialise and enjoy 'time out'.

Activities have included; recipe swaps, craft activities, painting and book making. They enjoy the talks and activities provided by our many interesting visiting speakers.

atlas PlaceOne of our Lay Readers leads services at Atlas Place, the local residential home. Other church volunteers support craft and social activities which the residents thoroughly enjoy.

Their next adventure is to develop a gardening club.

This outreach work has been very successful, providing Christian services in Atlas Place and with some residents worshipping with us at the church, just across the road, each Sunday.

StoneThroughout the year, church members paint stones to celebrate different events, for example, Christmas, Queen's Jubilee, Easter and the NHS. Once painted, these beautiful stones are hidden around the Island, in the children's park, along the river side and next to the many walkways.

There is great excitement amongst the children when these are found and taken home as 'prized finds'.

home groupHome groups are hosted by church members, and gives us opportunity to study and reflect on God's Word. This is also a time for us to offer each other support and develop friendships. Many of the groups meet fortnightly.

Weekly prayer groups provide a time for spiritual reflection, currently these meetings are held on Zoom.

Other members study the Bible together in Trios, groups of three who decide which book of the Bible or theme they want to focus on in order to study to deepen their understanding of God's word, their faith and their friendships.
